Silver City Blues Festival 2008

Back for a stunning 13th year, the Silver City Blues Festival, founded and operated by the Mimbres Regional Arts Council, MRAC Blues Festival remains the sparkling jewel of musical venues in our Southwest region.

What a concept. World class blues & gospel performers along with incredible musicians and a professional sound crew... and it's FREE!

Following the successful path of past "To die for" experiences, this year's festival will once again have the Friday night lead off at the Buffalo Dance Hall. Experience a part of Silver City's vast historical heritage by enjoying the trip back in time as you enjoy the Buffalo Saloon and Dance Hhall, while at the same time listening to incredible blues. Some past stars at the Buffalo include The Cullen Winter Blues Band and last year's treat, Hoodoos.
2007 Virtural Tour: Silver City Blues Festival

This year the Upper Valley's own, Pat "Guitar Slim" Chase... our valley boy... will get people dancing and into gear Friday night as a kick-off for a fantastic festival at the park Saturday & Sunday.

Then rest up a bit and have a nice brunch Saturday morning, or if you wake up earlier... eat lunch, and get to Gough Park to find a spot either in the shade or in the sun near the stage. It may be hot in Las Cruces and El Paso but it will be cool up in Silver City.

Saturday's line-up of fantastic muscial groups starts off with Edie and the Silver Blue Roots at 1:15. Saturdays probably the biggest day as far as fans go because many come up just for the day. It may also have something to do with the electric guitars that wail and scream all day to the delight of the fans... many who will be bopping all day long.

Saturday continues with:

* Alburquerque Blues Connection @ 3:00 *
* Big Pete Pearson & Rhythm Room Allstars @ 4:45 *
* Zac Harmon @ 6:30 *
* Sherman Robertson @ 8:30 *

And if after all of that you need a bit more blues in your brain then don't miss the Buffalo Dance Hall Jam Session!Win free tickets to this also by clicking on the GOLD banners at the top of each of our articles @ www.UpperValleyToday.com www.UpperValleyToday.com and www.WestsiderToday.com www.WestsiderToday.com

Sunday is more of the mellow blues day. But, it is sometimes the best with some great vocals and wonderful acoustic instrumentation.

Sunday starts off, again at Gough Park beginning at 12:30 with Alex Maryol.

Sunday continues with:

* Jen Exten Trio with Pat Dutton & Pat Chase @ 1:45 *
* Chris Dracup & Tommy Elskes with Alex Moralez @ 3:00 *
* Marie Knight Legacy Performer @ 4:30 *
* John Mooney/all acoustic @ 6:00 *

Don't miss this once in a year experience. Remember the next one won't come around until 2009.

Thanks also go to the Town of Silver City. The festival is paid in part by Town of Silver City Lodgers Tax.
