Global Warming??? YES! But, snow and cold hit region again.

Frigid temperatures shot through the Rockie Mountains and the plains to bring snow to the region.

G   lobal warming is here to stay. Or is it?

While the earth as a whole may be warming, North America has been hit with blizzard after blizzard and our region has been missed by most of the deadly storms. Ever since late October, the Mesilla Valley has been hit with rain, frost, frozen rain, snow and frigid temperatures. Temperatures this last Wednesday were in the teens again in the Upper Valley with only slightly warmer temperatures on the slopes of the Franklin Mountians.
The Westide and Upper Valley only got a slight taste of snow unlike the Permian Basin east of us.

But, the east coast of the United States has been receiving the brunt of the storms as they mix with Atlantic Ocean moisture to produce record snow fall. But, that is what global warming is supposed to do. The warmer the oceans... the more moisture they release due to evaporation.

As for our region we have been hit with numerous days of heavy rain while just north of us there is snow.

Could El Nino be to blame too? This year there is a very strong El Nino causing the Pacific storms to batter Southern California and then us.

Maybe our region will be blessed with more moisture as global warming contiues.
