hat a difference a year makes. Last year the Miners, who still had their great scorer and All-Conference guard, Stefon Jackson, were defeated on the last night of CBI (College Basketball Invitational) Championship Tournament... at home. Instead of the confetti falling on the Miners and Jackson’s last game as a Miner... tears fell from Jackson’s eyes.
Fast forward. This year the Miners are dominant in their conference and the games that would slip away in the second half of last year's games make for rave reviews this season. Saturday night was no difference as they nipped the UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham) Trail Blazers 52-50 to finish up at home as Champions of the Conference - USA Regular Season.

The Miners hoisted up the C-USA Championsip trophy to seal the deal. Randy Culpepper was showing off his new Championship T-Shirt and cap before jumping up on the scorer’s table to ham it up. And Arnett Moultrie gave Culpepper a piggyback ride before the fans rushed the floor to watch and cheer as the Miners cut down the net.... piece by piece.
